Each person reading this will have a different schedule, as given to them by their authorities. However, none of us can escape the fact that our lifestyle has been restricted. So what do we do?
I got to wondering what it is that needs doing, has needed to be done for a long time and is still waiting. There is so much to be done for each of us, (unless you live in an empty shipping container). What is there for you that has been waiting to be done for, who knows how long?
I started counting:
There’s that jacket I started to knit.
There’s the jigsaw puzzle two-thirds done.
There’s the embroidering that has been started.
I could also organise my recipes.
Maybe sort out the documents draw.
The books that need reading.
And of course I could keep up my exercise regime.
There is so much that needs to be done, and here is the opportunity. The NO TIME excuse will not hold. So why aren’t these things getting done. Maybe I am like most of the population and I can only see the negatives. So I had a talk to Jesus this morning.
I AM NOT ALONE
I call on you only. You are here LORD.
A time of restrictions,
Curtailed here! Restricted there.
Hemmed in on all sides, yet you are here.
Your arms for support.
Your arms for comfort.
Your arms for encouragement because you are here.
This too will end.
We are not alone, because you are here.
And that reminded me of what Jesus told the disciples: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt. 28:20) It is inconceivable that at this difficult time Jesus would leave us to manage on our own. Now I have peace.
So, no more procrastinating. If this is going to go on for two months then there is plenty of time for me to get the outstanding chores done.
And you might too.
