Like you, I am sitting here in my little unit. We are all being told, don’t go out unless it is necessary, don’t visit with people, keep your distance, and the list goes on. It has the potential to be quite demoralising. If God is so good, well, then why is this happening?
These are challenging times, and our Prime Minister keeps reminding us of that. It is like what most of us have never seen before. No one born after the Second World War has experienced a global problem like this in their lifetime. We have basically had it too good. This means that we don’t readily have a reply to all our questions. We don’t have a reference base.
But we do have God’s word.
And looking at that, we have ample evidence that things will go “wrong” from time to time. And this is one of those times.
Jesus said to the Pharisees (skeptics): The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. What we are seeing these days is the work of the “thief”, mainly identified as “satan”. However, Jesus went on, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. These problems are not God’s plan, but it was the human race which allowed evil into the world. That started with Adam and still goes on.
At a time like this, God’s children can rely on his goodness. It is a great time to see God moving in our lives and letting that be a witness to those who do not yet acknowledge God. We receive a lot of advice on how to minimise the risk of becoming ill, and obeying those instructions is the wisest thing we can do now. Remember that all knowledge ultimately comes from God. Let us honour those who have taken the trouble to research all of that.
As for me. Well, I will spend most of my time in this little Unit. Out of fear? No, out of obedience. I do my shopping when I have to, and when things are not available, well, God supplies. Actually, I was quite stressed out last week when I could not get eggs, nor liquid soap for hand washing. I did not specifically ask for them, just thought I would try again next week. Well, on the same day a person from church, who lives two houses up the street rang me and asked whether I was OK and whether I was in NEED of anything. I mentioned the two items that I had not been able to get. He said he would see what he could do.
Seven o’clock that evening I had both items given to me. Just a small reminder that we are clearly told Before they call I will answer; (Isaiah 65:24). God sees us and he cares. We just need to be open to hear what he is saying, and, most importantly, give him the credit.
And if you are not used to doing that, just talk to God and tell him. You can’t imagine how quickly he will have his arms around you. His initiative was to send Jesus, now it is up to you.
And, if you would like to follow these adventures, just go to the About page and put in your e.mail.
This is so encouraging, Ria!
