You Do Have a Choice.

We have no idea at this stage how long this is going to last.  There is a lot of talk, but nothing is definite.  And how are we all coping with this?  You have the choice of letting it drive you around the bend, or just bending with it.  However, we are learning some amazing things if we have our eyes open.

Online!  Yes, that is the key word for this period.  Yesterday I went to my physiotherapist online.  It was actually amazing.  She was in her office and I was at home.  I could see everything she did in the office and I could show her how I was doing here at home.  Very simply, put my iPad on the floor and let her see how I did the exercise.  And that got me thinking.

There is so much ability out there.  There is so much knowledge for applications that we have never used.  I am wondering whether it is just temporary, or whether this might end up being permanent.  Is there a possibility that an expert on the other side of the world could treat, or advice treatment for me when necessary.

The world is becoming so much smaller and we have to wonder whether the data that comes over the internet will ever be considered as important to individuals as the water that comes out of our taps.  There is so much new, when you think of it, and we can speculate how much more there is still to come.

Again, that is not totally surprising.  Many years ago it was written for us that, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, – the things God has prepared for those who love him.” (1Cor.2:4).  We have over the last century seen an absolute explosion of knowledge which God had prepared.  We have no idea how much more there is, but it will be exciting.

Of course there are people who will say, “Well, if God knew, why did he not stop this virus?”  That of course does not take into account that God has given humans ‘free will’, which means that they can basically do as they like.  Those who choose to follow God’s word will live in the security of his love and power, no matter what happens.  Those who choose not to follow God, but follow his enemy Satan instead, have to put their trust in him.  However, from the beginning of time he has shown himself to be the source of trouble.

Of course there are those who will say “I don’t follow either”.  In fact that is impossible.  Anyone who does not follow God, by default follows Satan and is his target.

When we remember that the Promise is greater than the Problem, we have peace.  The promise is, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt.28:20) and “In the world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).  The problem is a minuscule virus which is spread and causes fear.

We have a choice, to trust Jesus or to live in Fear.  I know where I am, where do you choose to be?  It is not difficult.  Just call the name ‘Jesus’ and in your own words, talk to him about your situation and your need for help.  You will know a peace that you have never known before.
